Memory Notch keeps recording and transcription on your Mac. That is a useful privacy property—not a promise that every use is appropriate.
A recorder, not a clinical documentation system
Memory Notch does not generate clinical notes, integrate with an EHR, offer a Business Associate Agreement, or make a HIPAA-compliance claim. It is not intended to replace a clinical documentation product. Confirm your organization’s requirements before recording sensitive work.
Local files still need looking after
Your recordings are stored in ~/memory. Your Mac’s access controls, backups, sync software, and any tools you give access to that folder affect where those files can go. Memory Notch does not upload recordings, but an AI tool or backup service you choose may do so.
Make recording part of the conversation
Let people know you are recording and obtain the permission your situation requires. Local processing does not replace consent. Listen back and check the transcript before relying on it.
